Which product do you recommend for bonding and coating oily woods?

Teak, like many tropical kinds of wood, is oily, and it is difficult to form a strong bond with teak with epoxy coatings or adhesives. 

• Bonding:  G-2 performs exceptionally well with oily, tropical woods. First sand the wood with coarse sandpaper, 60-80 grit. Then wipe with a strong solvent such as lacquer thinner or xylene to remove surface oil and allow to dry.  Finally, apply the adhesive within 60 minutes and clamp the pieces.
• Coating:  Coating oily woods like teak with epoxy is not always necessary.  Teak weathers well by itself and an epoxy coating will offer little benefit. Penetrating and non-film-forming finishes, like teak oil that are specifically designed for teak wood should be considered first. If coating oily woods with epoxy, our Silvertip epoxy with the fast hardener is a good choice. first sand the wood with coarse sandpaper, 60-80 grit.
