Epoxies, in general, will cure to a high gloss finish. The best way to achieve a matte finish will be to apply a matte topcoat over the fully cured epoxy. Our Pennant Topside Paint and our Marine Spar Varnish are available in Satin. Both the Pennant Paint and Marine Spar Varnish are specifically formulated to be applied over our epoxy systems, all other topcoats should be tested for compatibility before use.
Sanding the epoxy to de-gloss the surface is not recommended unless more coats will be applied. Breaking the surface through sanding greatly reduces the scratch and mar resistance of the epoxy.
